Chili Cook-Off - Edmonton Downtown Business Association

On November 2, 2007, I was part of the panel judging the Edmonton Downtown Business Association's Annual Chili Cook-Off, in support of Rodeo Week on November 2nd at Scotia Place. It was a delicious event that raised more than $5300 for the Zebra Child Protection Centre.

After a blind taste test of 20 different and creative entries, the winning chili was awarded to Cocoa's Restaurant in the Delta Centre Suite Hotel, the addition of shredded smoked Applewood Cheddar pushing it to the top.

Close behind in 2nd and 3rd place were chilis created by non-food establishments, a delightful surprise to the judging panel. Second place went to Edmonton Tourism, with third place being the biggest surprise, ELTC, the English Language Training Centre, whose Korean students used chili sauce, soju and dried mango to create a delicious chili that was my personal favourite.

FAVA's 25th Anniversary Celebration (Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta)

FAVA celebrated 25 years of supporting film and video in the Edmonton community on October 26, 2007. I donated my services through Allium Foodworks, providing appetizers for the event. FAVA provides budding filmmakers, documentarians, videographers and industry professionals a network and the resources to create their work, supporting and encouraging art in our community. Congratulations, FAVA!

Take Home Chef Promotion

A promotion sponsored by The Brick, I will be creating unique, in-home dinner parties for the winners. From menu planning through shopping, prepping and chopping, the Take Home Chef promotion promises to be great fun - and delicious!

The Brick - Cooking Demonstrations

I hosted cooking demonstrations at The Brick, part of the grand opening of their Stainless Steel Kitchen Galleries at both the South Edmonton Common and West Edmonton Mall locations. They were very successful and I had a great time preparing Blackened Salmon and Goan Prawn Curry for the customers and staff. Check out the recipes.
