Edmonton Home and Garden ShowAllium Foodworks presented the first of several planned cooking demonstrations at the City Centre Farmers Market on July 31, 2010. Using mostly local ingredients from market vendors, Elaine created Grilled Lemongrass Chicken and Spicy Bison Salad. Download the recipe and visit our Resources page for more information on local shops and markets where you can find authentic Thai ingredients. Come visit the market every Saturday from May through September on 104 Street between Jasper & 103 Ave.

Elaine also guides shopping tours to Chinatown to the various Asian markets, as well as Mediterranean, Latin and other tours. If you would like to learn more about our local international cuisine resources or to book a class, contact us.

Edmonton Home and Garden ShowAllium Foodworks presented one of the most popular cooking stages at the 2010 and 2009 Edmonton Home & Garden Show. In 2010 we prepared Thai Cilantro Pork and Green Papaya Salad, while in 2009 we created a Mexican Bison Taco with fresh Pico de Gallo. The crowds responded enthusiastically to Elaine's high-energy, fun and entertaining demonstration. Allium Foodworks was spotlighted by the organizers in their advance e-mail and publicity materials and featured prominently on their web site and in their program. An audience favourite, look for her at next year's show!

 

Edmonton Home and Garden ShowAllium Foodworks does regular cooking demonstrations at the Beaumont Farmers Market using vendors products and creating recipes that are unique an delicious. Elaine finds new and different uses for products that even their creators never considered! The market is open year round. Visit their web site for location, directions and times.

Each year the Edmonton Downtown Business Association hosts its Annual Chili Cook-Off as part of the festivities of the Canadian Finals Rodeo. Funds raised support local charities and about twenty different organizations, restaurants and businesses from the downtown core vye for the title of Best Chili in Edmonton and the competition is always fierce and delicious! Elaine has become a regular on the panel of judges, and her love of chili is sated each November! Held near the beginning of November each year, come down and sample some delicious chili - and the winners may surprise you! In 2007, Cocoa's won for their delicious chili topped with Applewood Cheddar, while in 2008, the English Language Training Centre won for their Asian fusion chili which included chili sauce, soju and dried mango. 2009 saw Cocoa's returning to the top in meat chilis while the Westin won in the category of Unique or Vegetarian with their scrumptious vegetarian chili. Congratulations!

FAVAFAVA (Film and Video Arts Society of Alberta) celebrated 25 years of supporting film and video in the Edmonton community on October 26, 2007. Allium Foodworks happily donated our services, providing appetizers for the event. FAVA provides local filmmakers, documentarians, videographers and industry professionals a network and the resources to create their work, supporting and encouraging art in our community. Congratulations, FAVA!

 

The BrickTo celebrate the grand opening of their Stainless Steel Kitchen Galleries at both the South Edmonton Common and West Edmonton Mall locations, Elaine Wilson was brought in to do several cooking demonstrations, preparing Goan Prawn Curry and Blackened Chicken. The customers were delighted and the staff reported that the store never smelled so good! As part of their promotion, they sponsored a Take Home Chef draw where the winner would plan a menu with Elaine, do the shopping and prepare a delicious meal. A delicious prize for their customers!
